It was supposed to be a second honeymoon to celebrate 10 years of marriage…

But when he told me all about it…

All I could do was break down and cry.

I sat there at the edge of the bed sobbing…

Because I was so unhappy with myself and my life…

The LAST thing I wanted to do was put on a bathing suit.

It felt like everything was spiraling out of control…

To the point where I couldn’t even hang out with my husband or my friends and have a good time

Because I was constantly obsessing over my weight.

I thought everyone was staring at me all the time…

I didn’t want to get naked in front of him with the lights on

Because in my mind, he’d just pick apart my body and find all my insecurities.

Yeah, I know it was bad for my marriage to feel this way…

But I couldn’t help it.

It was how I felt

And seeing the look on his face when I didn’t want to go on our second honeymoon almost killed me.

For the first time in my life…

I sensed that he was having doubts about us

And our marriage.


That Was the Night I Hit Rock Bottom


And I knew that something had to change.

I knew that I had to figure this out because I was dying inside under my own weight

Heck, for the past 20 years, my entire relationship with my mom was centered around our weight problems.

Who wants that?

So I finally told myself that enough was enough…

When Craig went to sleep that night…

I snuck out until the living room…

Turned on my laptop…

And started searching for answers.

The little voice inside my head kept telling me it was pointless.

Because I already tried everything

And nothing ever worked

But this time, I just had to do something…

To save my marriage…

To save my relationship with my mom

And more importantly, to save myself.

So I took all the money I’d saved up as a hairdresser...


And Started Going To An Integrative Health Specialist


She was really expensive…

So we only met every other month.

But I figured that if I was going to finally figure out what was wrong with my body…

And why it desperately hung on to fat…

Then I had to go see an expert who had helped other women before.

And hopefully whatever I learned from her…

I could pass along to my mom…

So we could finally break free of this diet prison and get our bodies back.

While my specialist was an extremely nice woman…

I couldn’t help but think that I’d heard all of this before.

She lectured me on basic nutrition that you can read in any magazine or textbook.

She told me about how important fruits and veggies were…

And how they should fill up at least half of my plate at every meal.

But being on a plant-based, low-fat diet for years…

I was already doing all of that.

Then she gave me a bunch of exercises to try…

She told me to write down all my food everyday in a journal…

And she’d review it at our next visit a few months from now.

Despite feeling extremely let down…

I did exactly what she said.


When I Went In For My Next Visit and Few Months Later...


I had my food journal in one hand…

And a banana smoothie in the other.

I wrote down everything I ate for the past 60 days…

I didn’t cut any corners…

I followed the exact plan she laid out for me.

I stuck to the 1,500 calorie diet she prescribed...

And guess what?

I lost two pounds.

Yep, two measly pounds in 60 days.

As she looked through my food journal, her eyes started squinting and her forehead started scrunching up…

Yet my weight barely changed.

You Really Don't Eat That Much.
Have You Ever Had Your Metabolism Checked?


I always heard that there’s no such thing as a “slow metabolism”...

It was just an excuse couch potatoes used to explain their laziness.

That’s what I thought, at least.

And I didn’t even know that you could get your metabolism checked.

Boy was I wrong.

For the next 15 minutes, I sat there as relaxed as I could…

While breathing through a tube with my nose plugged.

I just expected the results to come back as “normal”...

But as I was sitting there, I got to thinking…

Why have I been so overweight since I was a kid?

Is there something else going on here?


After My 10-Minute Test Was Over, We Sat Down To Discuss the Results


My resting metabolic rate was 51% slower than normal for a woman my age, height and weight.

51% SLOWER!

Here’s how that translates into actual calories.

A woman my age, height and weight with a normal metabolism would burn about 1,820 calories.

Add in regular daily activities and tasks…

And that woman could realistically burn about 2,100 to 2,400 calories a day.

Add in exercise and that goes up even higher.

My resting metabolism rate is 1,105 calories.

Add in my daily activity and it jumps up to around 1,300 calories.

No wonder I wasn’t losing any weight on my strict 1,500 calorie diet.

In fact, it was causing me to GAIN weight.

And if I followed the U.S. dietary guidelines…

I’d gain as much as 2-3 pounds per WEEK.


This Flies in the Face of Everything I'd Been Told Before


I would always roll my eyes when someone said they had a slow metabolism…

Because I thought it was just another excuse.

But how many people actually do have a slow metabolism?

According to Shawn Talbott, PhD, who’s a nutritional biochemist in Salt Lake City, Utah…

Among the people I see…

About half have a slower metabolism than what you would predict based on age, height, weight and gender.”

His advice?

You see, for years we’ve been told to eat less and exercise more…

And we’re finally starting to realize that it can do a lot of damage to your  metabolism.

Now it was all finally starting to make sense.

For years I wondered how I was doing everything right

Thyroid disruptors are elements that block the activity of thyroid hormone in the body.

It’s like being trapped in a stalled car.

You want to get out, but you can’t.

You’re stuck.

You can’t move.

Everything slows down to a complete stop and you can’t move forward.

It’s the same thing with your thyroid.

Certain foods and chemicals suppress this thyroid hormone and when that happens, your fat-burning metabolism can slow down to a crawl.

Thyroid Disruptor #1: Chlorine

Do you ever swim in a swimming pool or go in a hot tub?

Unfortunately, both of those may be affecting your thyroid.

Here’s why…

Chlorine is related to iodine in the periodic table.

Which causes it to compete with iodine and potentially block iodine uptake in the thyroid gland[11].

Iodine is an important mineral when it comes to proper thyroid function.[12]

Most of us are deficient in iodine, and since it’s used to make thyroid hormone, low-levels can result in a low-functioning thyroid.[13]

Who would have thought drinking water could affect your thyroid levels?

Well it can, here’s how…

Are you still drinking water from the tap?

If you are, then you’ll want to take notice.

While it’s no secret that most traditional tap water is filled with chemicals, what most don’t know is that one in particular negatively affects your thyroid.

The elevated fluoride from drinking water impacts the production of T3, T4, as well as Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).

In fact, a recent study showed that higher levels of fluoride leads to a greater impairment of thyroid function[14].

And so, while we’ve all been told to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day…

Without the right filtration system in your home (which can cost hundreds of dollars), you may be damaging your thyroid without even knowing.

Thyroid Disruptor #3: Goitrogens

Did you know that cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts can actually disrupt your thyroid?[15]

It’s true.

You see, these vegetables contain chemicals called goitrogens[15] that blocks the activity of the thyroid hormone and can cause an enlargement of the thyroid.

And when production of your main thyroid hormone is blocked, your metabolism slows down…

Your stomach may feel more bloated and distressed…

And it can make you feel “heavier” around your middle.

This is why some women struggle even when they eat more vegetables.

Now, you don’t have to give up all vegetables completely.

Simply steam them instead of eating them raw.


3 Worst Thyroid-Killing Foods
You Must Absolutely AVOID


One thing you’ll want to remember is that your thyroid needs certain nutrients to thrive…

And on the other end of the stick, there are certain foods and anti-nutrients that suppress this tiny thyroid hormone.

#1 - Raw Vegetables

We’ve all been told to eat more veggies, especially if you want to lose weight…

However, when it comes to your thyroid, in some cases vegetables can do more harm than good.

Take kale and broccoli for example.

Both of these vegetables contain a chemical compound called “goitrogens” which I just mentioned above.

Goitrogens have been known to inhibit thyroid hormone production, especially in women who are low in iodine.[16]

When your body doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone, your metabolism slows down, which means weight loss slows down as well.

These vegetables have also been known to cause bloating and stomach uneasiness when consumed, so if you do plan on eating them, pay attention to how you feel afterwards.

While these are considered “healthy” foods for most people…

If you have a sluggish thyroid, they could be making it worse.

#2 - Soy & Tofu

Soy-based products like tofu, soybeans, and soy milk can impair thyroid function because they have estrogen in them[17]

…and as you get older, your ratio of estrogen in the body increases…

Which leads to an environment where you start storing more fat.[18]

On top of that, soy isoflavones interfere[19] with how the thyroid works and inhibits thyroid hormone production.

And it binds up the receptors on your cells that are intended to receive T3 hormone.

Which can lead to:

  • Weight gain[20]
  • Dry skin[20]
  • Mood swings[20]
  • Water retention[20]
  • Digestive problems[20]

That’s why I always recommend that my private clients remove soy for the first 30 days…

Because it’s one of the easiest things you can do to get your thyroid balanced and moving in the right direction again.

#3 - Vegetable & Canola Oil

For years, we’ve been told that vegetable and canola oil are “healthy” because they’re low in saturated fat.

Yet we now know that’s completely not true.

In fact, one of the best things you can do for your thyroid and your weight is removing these harmful oils from your pantry immediately.

You see…

Vegetable and canola oil are high in Omega 6 polyunsaturated fats.[21]

The problem with that is…

During the extraction process, the polyunsaturated fats become damaged and oxidized.

If you then cook with these oils, they become damaged even further.

Most canola and vegetable oils these days are also partially hydrogenated, which creates trans fats.[22]

The presence of these trans fats can cause inflammation in the body…[23]
